Yesterday, some NHL players held a conference call, discussing the unexpected pause and sharing their thoughts on a potential restart of the season. The Washington Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins captains Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby agreed that the league should try to play as many games as they can and they wouldn’t mind skipping the remaining part of the reagular season and going straight into the playoffs.
New Jersey Devils defenceman P.K. also made a proposition of a 31-team playoff format to give players a chance to play a meaningful hockey after a pause. At the same time, Columbus Blue Jackets forward Nick Foligno expressed concerns that moving the playoffs into the summer would negatively impact the health of many players.
The players also shared their tips on how to survive during self-isolation and discussed their favourite TV shows.
