Lightning Round: Bolts Announce Rookie Tournament

The Tampa Bay Lightning have announced that they have scheduled a rookie tournament against the Panthers, Hurricanes, and Predators between September 15th and 18th. Prospect tournament rosters have typically compiled of junior level prospects and recently-turned pro young players, along with the flurry of undrafted prospects looking to get a pro contract or make a name for themselves ahead of their junior season. The Lightning have found many undrafted gems through this process and in free agency.

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced the tragic news that Rodion Amirov, their first round pick in 2020, has passed away in his fight against cancer. Amirov, who was 21, was getting treatment in Germany and there was recent optimism that he would pull through. The Leafs invited Amirov to Toronto to be part of the team off the ice in October. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and the hockey community. May he rest in peace. Fuck Cancer.

Kyle Dubas, who drafted Amirov, made a statement through his new team in Pittsburgh.
