The Habs and Red Wings made a trade yesterday. The Red Wings got Jeff Petry for the next two years, while Montreal retained half his salary and got back a fourth liner. The Habs needed to get rid of cap space at this point in the summer and they might still be moving Casey DeSmith who Pittsburgh dropped on their doorstep along with Petry in the Erik Karlsson trade.
Speaking of Pittsburgh, Trevor Daley was hired by Kyle Dubas to be his special assistant.
