Lightning Round: Buzzing around an active day in the NHL

The Lightning had the day off as they returned home from their four-game road trip, but that didn’t keep general manager Julien BriseBois from making a few phone calls and adjusting his roster. Just as he thought he had his ideal roster in place, Conor Sheary heads to injured reserve and Zach Bogosian is dealt for a draft pick.

Will the move allow Alex Barre-Boulet to move back up to the top-six? Will Waltteri Merela get the nod over Austin Watson? All those questions will have to wait until the morning skate this morning.

Lightning trade Zach Bogosian [Raw Charge]

The Bolts give Bogo a chance at more playing time in Minnesota while clearing some cap space. Do they have the depth on the backend to handle the loss of the veteran? Only time will tell!

Bettman upholds McAvoy suspension [Sportsnet]

For the second time this season Gary Bettman heard an appeal on a suspension handed out by the Department of Public Safety. For the second time he denied the appeal. Charlie McAvoy will serve his entire four-game suspension.

Crunch lose 3-2 to a shootout to Senators [The AHL]

Max Groshev and Emil Lilleberg had the goals for the Crunch as they played really well in the first and third period, just couldn’t pull it out in the skills competition portion of the game.

Sharks acquire Calen Addison [Fear the Fin]

Minnesota’s other move of the day was to trade defenseman Calen Addison to the Sharks for a fifth-round pick in 2026 and minor-league forward Adam Raska.

Ross Colton fined for crosscheck [TSN]

Good thing our old friend picked up a hefty raise this summer as his wallet is a bit lighter today following a $5,000 fine levied by the league for his crosscheck on Timo Meier.

Kane and his agent, Pat Brisson, have started talking to teams interested in acquiring the services of the soon-to-be 35-year-old. The Rangers, Panthers, Red Wings, Sabres, and Maple Leafs were all listed as potential landing spots for the future hall-of-famer.

Average value of NHL franchise is up to $1.31 billion [Sportico]

It was a good year to be a NHL owner. The Lightning ranked 12th on the list with an estimated value of $1.25 billion, up 37% year-over-year.
