Lightning Round: We’re all trying to figure this out

So, welcome to the slightly new-ish Raw Charge 2.5. It’s not quite as drastic as a change that we went through during the season and we hope to have everything up and going by the time training camp gets underway. Thank you for your patience as we figure out all the bells and whistles that go along with the new platform.

Basically, not much has changed except for the layout and the log-in process. If you’re one of our premium members, you still have the same access as before and you’re renewal date stays the same. We’ll be getting back to more premium content shortly (probably next week) once we have a grasp of how things are going with the technical access of the website.

Lightning put call out for local artists [Tampa Bay Lightning]

The Lightning Foundation is looking for local artists to help them showcase the various theme nights that they have scheduled throughout the season.

Gemel Smith signs with Dynamo Minsk [Dynamo Minsk Telegram page]

The hard-nosed forward is taking his game to Russia. After spending parts of the last four seasons in the Lightning organization (1 goal, 3 assists in 8 games with the Bolts) Smith will play in the KHL next season. He’ll be on the same team as former Bolt Dmitri Korobov and Lightning prospect Mikhail Shalagin.

Nate Thompson retires after 15 NHL seasons [TSN.ca]

The embodiment of the journeyman hockey player, Thompson played with the Lightning for 5 seasons, racking up 36 goals and 39 assists. His best season was in 2010-11 when he scored 10 goals and added 15 assists under head coach Guy Boucher.

Toronto rounds out coaching staff [Sportsnet]

Speaking of Boucher, the former Lightning head coach returns to the NHL as an assistant coach for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
