Quick Strikes: Lightning forwards Johnson and Cirelli throw down over candy

The Lightning

-Lightning forwards Tyler Johnson and Anthony Cirelli have the tough conversations here:

-Lightning assistant coach Jeff Halpern regularly holds a “post-practice laboratory” for players one-on-one.

Now in his second season on the Lightning coaching staff, Halpern has added another assignment to his ever-expanding list of duties: Tampa Bay’s after-hours skills coach. Halpern plays his typical role during practices and morning skates, but once the majority of players and coaches get off the ice following a training session, that’s when Halpern really gets down to business.

He’ll spend his time working with healthy scratches, youngsters looking to refine their game and, really, anyone who wants it.

-The Lightning has entered  “we may win, but I may die” territory. Oh, dear.

-Dan Girardi talked podcasts on the NHL Network.

The Pupper

-Oh, Bolt. I’d hire you and Shaggy any day!

The Crunch

-The Lightning assigned recently recalled forward Cory Conacher back to the Syracuse Crunch yesterday. Alexander Volkov and Luke Schenn remain recalled.

-Louis Domingue has changed agents. One must wonder if the current state of affairs has anything to do with it….

-October brought chances for both Domingue and Scott Wedgewood to shine for Syracuse.

-AHL fans can bid now on a ton of items through AHL Authentic, with proceeds going to the Ace Bailey Foundation. Included in the haul is a Tampa Bay Lighting Black Hat signed by Victor Hedman and an orange third Conacher Crunch jersey.

The Orlando Solar Bears

-The OSB got into the spirit of the holiday yesterday.

The Game

-Joe Smith caught up with former Lightning prospect Brett Howden and discussed his traded story.

-Those who play for the New York Rangers experienced a lot of first milestones in their Tuesday night victory. (Unfortunately, that victory came at the expense of the Lightning)

-For those of you who overdid it a bit last night, the pup for the Washington Capitals sympathizes!

-What made Bob McKenzie almost puke once?

What about his most embarrassing moment?

-Nikita Scherbak is now a free agent.

-Sean Malone has an AHL contract with the Rochester Americans this season, but he still has his eyes on the big prize.

Sean Malone is also on an AHL contract for the first time this season after his NHL entry level deal expired.

“I don’t want to go into too many details about it but I think I think it means a lot that I was able to come back here and they wanted me back here. I think they have invested time in me so I have a lot of respect for that. I’m happy to do what I can to hopefully get back on an NHL deal. That’s my main goal but I think focusing on the things that I have to do here and actually develop my game and actually be consistently playing is a major factor in that.”

-This video celebrating the Indian Women Ice Hockey Team is incredible.

-Best wishes to Mark Letestu:
