Syracuse Crunch vs St. John’s IceCaps AHL game thread

Opponent: St. John’s Ice Caps (14-17-0-1), AHL affiliate for the Winnipeg Jets
Where: Oncenter War Memorial Arena, Syracuse, New York

Media: Live stream via AHL Live; Radio: The Score 1260 AM

The Crunch beat the Norfolk Admirals 4-2 last night in Syracuse in the first of eight meetings between the teams this season. And, as expected, it was weird. Of course, next weekend, when Syracuse visits Norfolk, will be weirder, but still.

It should probably have been predictable that those two teams wouldn’t like each other much. If they don’t already, I would expect Norfolk to really come to resent Syracuse. After all, their old fans like their new team better, and their new fans liked their old team better – so they’ll never feel quite good enough, which is too bad, really.

Tonight, the Crunch take on the St. John’s IceCaps for the first time since the preseason. As Dustin Tokarski got the start last night, it’s likely that Riku Helenius will get the start tonight. Going into last night’s game, Syracuse had all 24 players on their roster healthy. Well, that’s not true anymore as J.T. Brown broke his collarbone and is expected have surgery on it and be out 6-8 weeks.

Here are the video highlights from last night’s game, in case you missed it.
