Up until about 10 minutes ago I was planning on skipping any type of preview post for tonight against the Boston Bruins. But circumstances have changed.
Vincent Lecavalier is out tonight with what is termed as a “mid body injury”, and center Blair Jones has been recalled from the Norfolk Admirals on an emergency basis. Mattias Ritola has also been recalled from the Admirals and should be available for tonights game.
Goaltender Mike Smith will be making his first NHL start since December 18th. Smith was injured during practice on December 20th, was sent down to Norfolk on conditioning in January, then was waived and sent to Norfolk for a longer period of time.
From a fan perspective, there will be a degree of skepticism on his ability to perform tonight… Especially with Boston being the opponent. Smith was the goalie of record during the 8-1 annihilation at the hands of these very Boston Bruins on December 1st.
