The Bolts
Coming off of a 5-1 win against the San Jose Sharks, the Tampa Bay Lightning moved to Southern California to take on the Los Angeles Kings in a back-to-back match-up. This contest featured two of the three best records in the NHL with the Lightning coming in at 12-2-2 and the Kings coming in at 11-2-2, and the Bolts won it, 5-2. [Raw Charge]
The Prospects
Erik Condra cleared waivers and was officially re-assigned to the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL and will be ready to play this weekend. In addition, the Lightning release Jason Akeson from his professional try-out, re-assigned Matthew Spencer and Connor Ingram to the Adirondack Thunder of the ECHL, and re-called Nic Riopel to the Crunch from the Thunder. Lightning prospects Taylor Raddysh and Boris Katchouk took part in the Canada-Russia series game playing for Team PHL. Raddysh as one of the handful of likely returning players for Team Canada to the World Junior Championships was named the Captain for Team OHL. On the other side of the ice was fellow Lightning prospect Alexei Lipanov playing for Team Russia.
The OHL had a bit of trouble with the Russians and fell 5-2. Raddysh had the first goal for the OHL on a penalty shot. Raddysh and Katchouk, playing on a line together, were a combined minus-four on the night. Lipanov on the other hand had two assists, one on the power play and one at even strength and was a plus-one on the night. Team OHL will try again on Monday before Team Russia moves on to the QMJHL. Buffalo Sabres goaltender Robin Lehner will honor fallen Buffalo K-9 Officer Craig Lehner during warm-ups before the Sabres’ Military Appreciation Night. He’ll wear Craig’s #43 call-sign and will have C. Lehner on the back of his jersey. He even tried to get the NHL to let him wear #43 during the game, but they would not allow it. [Buffalo News]

“Sometimes it just doesn’t work out,” McPhee said, “and you have to know that going in.”
McPhee said there was a trade in place for Shipachyov but he didn’t want to be moved to another NHL team.
“We gave them permission to seek another deal in the NHL if they wanted to,” McPhee said. “We found a deal in the NHL, he didn’t want to play. He wanted to go home.”

A peanut allergy landed a Colorado Avalanche player in the hospital during the team’s visit to Sweden. Alexander Kerfoot detailed the story in his blog for the NHL web site as well. [BSNDenver.com]
Alexander Kerfoot is allergic to nuts, and Wednesday afternoon, while waiting for his iPhone to be fixed in Stockholm, Sweden, he killed some time at a local coffee shop. Kerfoot ordered a food item that he made sure with a clerk had no nuts in it.
Well, it turns out it did – bits of cashew nuts. Kerfoot had the resultant allergic reaction and had to be taken to a hospital in town.
Brynas IF has threatened to pull out of the Champions Hockey League over (lack of) punishments given to Mannheim players. There were two questionable hits at the end of a game between the two teams where Mannheim was eliminated from the CHL. The English version of the statement follows the Swedish version. [Brynas.Se]
We also react upon the fact that the CHL has different consequences for different teams and players depending on which Country Federation they belong to. This is not acceptable.
We will continue our dialog with the management of the CHL and also the SHL. Based on these conversations we will decide what actions Brynäs IF will take in regards of a continued participation in the CHL as well as other possible civil actions.
Disney announced yesterday that Rian Johnson will be working on another trilogy of Star Wars movies and that they will also be producing a live-action TV show set to debut in late 2019. We have confirmed that Joe Morrow has been cast as a Jedi in one of the upcoming productions.
