Quick Strikes: Nolan Foote shines at the last day of the World Junior Summer Showcase

The Prospects

Team Canada faced team USA on the final day of the World Junior Summer Showcase. Nolan Foote played on the second line and Gabriel Fortier served as the 13th forward.

This time it was Nolan Foote who celebrated two points for his team, but eventually team Canada lost to team USA 5-3.

Craig Button included both Foote and Fortier on the projected team Canada roster at the 2020 World Junior Championship.

The Buffalo Sabres have agreed to terms with goaltender Linus Ullmark as a result of arbitration hearing.

They also signed defenseman Jake McCabe to a two-year deal and avoided another arbitration.

The Sabres are over the salary cap at this moment.

The 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup is starting on Monday in Breclav (Czech Republic) and Piestany (Slovakia). In a pre-tournament game, the Czech Republic defeated the USA.

While many top 2020 draft prospects were off playing at the World Junior Summer Showcase in Plymouth, the rest of the draft class was busy preparing for the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup, set for August 5-10 in Breclav and Piestany, Czech Republic. Compared to the U-18 World Championship in April, the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup typically features more high-level talent due to the junior hockey cycle still taking place during the championship in the spring, while playing this event in the summer allows prospects to be available.
