Lightning Round: Alex Barre-Boulet is back on waivers

The Seattle Kraken have put Alex Barre-Boulet back on waivers after claiming him from the Tampa Bay Lightning 11 days ago. To put it bluntly, the Kraken are losing a lot and most games aren’t very close. There is a lot of heat already on head coach Dave Hakstol, who seems to be trying to make changes to the roster where possible. After only playing ABB nine seconds earlier in the week against the Blue Jackets before getting scratched again.

No, it’s not time to panic about the Kraken

The Lightning, who are in a much different place now than they were over a week ago with the Kucherov injury, should absolutely be putting in a claim for their former player. Not only do they have plenty of cap space and roster space for him (and few real alternatives to fill the 23-man roster), but if they are the only team to put in a claim for their former player (someone who was on their roster this season), they can freely send him between the NHL and AHL.

You might remember this rule in action when the Lightning and Ottawa Senators played tag with several players, including Gabriel Dumont, a few seasons ago (2017-18). Dumont was bounced back and forth on waivers, initially being lost by the Lightning to being claimed back. And because no other team had put in a claim, the Lightning were then free to put Dumont on the Syracuse Crunch.

So fingers crossed the Lightning put a claim in for ABB, and no one else gets involved either.

What do you think happens to ABB?

New ring just dropped!

Legend.

In Orlando Solar Bears news, they got a goalie!

And finally, the Carolina Hurricanes and Montreal Canadiens played each other last night. Two teams you definitely hope the meteor wins when they’re playing each other. But it was really funny to see Habs fans still trying to live on a high horses, with their noses turned up to the rest of us. They gave Jesperi Kotkaniemi these chants because once again they care so much about the dignity, respect, and class of the league.

Only for them to get their asses handed to them 4-1 by the Canes, with Kotkaniemi scoring a goal, and Sebastian Aho (who you’ll remember Bergevin trying to offer sheet) scoring two. Oh, and did I mention the Habs are 0-5-0 now?
