We’re entering a new NHL season and there is lots of motion happening around rosters right now as they settle. As a result, we get lots of former Lightning players out on the free market. Yesterday Alex Volkov was placed on waivers by the Ducks, I guess he didn’t make the roster. Brett Connolly and Bokondji Imama both cleared waivers yesterday.

Every year there are some interesting names that come through the waiver wire and yesterday’s list had that for me. Syracuse Crunch fans will remember Jonah Gadjovich (VAN) as a player who impressed a lot whenever he was down with the team. I was always impressed with his quickness and his shot. I thought he was going to make the Canucks out of camp now that he’s waivers eligible. The fact that he didn’t is somewhat disappointing, but I would still entertain the idea of claiming him and seeing what he can do on the Lightning. It’s probably never going to happen but one can dream.

The Jack Eichel Saga continues to be a saga as more medical information is changing hands and lobbying continues for a team (honestly anyone at this point) to put an offer together and for the Sabres to accept it. This whole thing has gotten too personal and I’m worried it’s not going to get better anytime soon.
Sources say the Eichel saga may be shifting. Ongoing discussions and additional access to Jack Eichel’s medical file has helped teams with trade interest clearly see his situation. Both sides are hopeful something can be worked out soon with one of the clubs in the mix.

2020 second overall pick Quinton Byfield has fractured his ankle and is expected to be out for some time. That’s a big blow to the LA Kings who were hoping to be competitive with him this season.
