During the overtime period of Saturday night’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Tampa Bay Lightning captain Steven Stamkos took a tripping penalty. The Lightning had to kill the penalty in a four-on-three situation. Ryan Callahan, Dan Girardi, and Braydon Coburn were tapped to take on the Blue Jackets in this critical juncture of the game. They valiantly came to Stamkos’ aid, shutting down the Blue Jackets for almost a full minute.
Russian super hero Andrei Vasilevskiy made brilliant save after brilliant save and got a whistle by covering up one such save. Brayden Point, Victor Hedman, and Anton Stralman tagged in for the tired trio that had done their job. Point took his spot and was tossed out by the dastardly linesman.
Victor Hedman, with his 0% Faceoff Win Percentage, moved in to take on Nick Foligno. Nick Foligno is no small man standing at 6’0” and 202 pounds. But he was dwarfed by the Nordic Thunder-Hammer coming in at 6’6” and 223 pounds.
Their sticks went down.
And bang!
Hedman won the faceoff!
The Lightning’s second trio of heroes came through to keep the puck out of their own net.
And with his faceoff win, Hedman increased his career Faceoff Win percentage to a staggering 100%.
