In Victor Hedman’s 8th season with the Tampa Bay Lightning, he’s already met a milestone. Previously, Dan Boyle held first place in number of assists by a Lightning defenseman — tonight, Hedman tied the franchise record at 187. Hedman met this record in 482 regular-season games.
The assist came on the game-tying goal by Brian Boyle in the second period of a game against the New Jersey Devils.

Earlier in the game, Taylor Hall threw a blind-side hit on Anton Stralman that pulled him out of the game for the rest of the first period. Hedman took exception almost immediately to the hit, heading over to Hall and garnering a two-minute roughing infraction for his discussion. The Lightning ended the first down a goal, but got the lead in the second from two goals within six minutes of each other. Hedman scored the second goal for the Bolts, bringing them ahead.
With his assist on B. Boyle’s goal, Victor Hedman has tied D. Boyle for most all-time by a #Bolts defenseman (187).
