There are quite a few players on the Syracuse Crunch roster with approaching career milestones. In celebration of those milestones, Raw Charge has asked our new graphics artist, RxlandS, to pair with Crunch photographer Scott Thomas so that we can give proper recognition to those in Syracuse.
We celebrated Byron Froese’s 200th career AHL game and Tye McGinn’s 250th career AHL game already. Tonight, we celebrate Jonathan Racine’s 250th!
Racine was originally signed by the Florida Panthers in 2013, and began his career in the American Hockey League with the San Antonio Rampage. He played 129 games with the Rampage, and also skated in 69 games with AHL Portland during the 2015-16 season after the Panthers moved their farm team there. He was traded to the Montreal Canadiens organization in 2016. Racine played in 26 games for Montreal’s AHL farm club in St. John’s before being traded yet again, this time to the Lightning organization.
Racine has appeared in 26 contests for the Syracuse Crunch since arriving in the Tampa Bay organization. Originally signed as a replacement, at least position-wise, for Luke Witkowski, Racine has amassed two points and currently has a +/- of 3. Although he has played most of the time in Syracuse in his natural position, he has appeared in a game as a forward. That versatility is probably very appreciated by a Crunch coaching staff that is constantly being challenged by roster changes.
Over the course of his AHL career, Racine has 2 goals and 25 assists.
