Tye McGinn hits 250 career AHL games

There are quite a few players on the Syracuse Crunch roster with approaching career milestones. In celebration of those milestones, Raw Charge has asked our new graphics artist, RxlandS, to pair with Crunch photographer Scott Thomas so that we can give proper recognition to those in Syracuse.

We celebrated Byron Froese’s 200th career AHL game this past Sunday. Tonight, we celebrate forward Tye McGinn’s 250th!

McGinn’s AHL career has, perhaps surprisingly, only been with two teams: the Adirondack Phantoms and the Crunch. McGinn suited up for the Phantoms 163 times between 2011 and 2014. Signed to a two-way contract by the Tampa Bay Lightning during the summer of 2015, he played in 72 games with the Crunch last season, recording 20 goals and 24 assists. His performance was enough for the Lightning to give him a second contract, and he was re-signed this past summer to another two-way contract.

Unfortunately, McGinn was sidelined by a shoulder injury that would ultimately need surgery just two games into the current AHL season. Since returning from that injury on March 3rd, McGinn has scored 6 goals and netted 4 assists. He’s played a large part in filling some of the holes currently left in Syracuse by the amount of roster players in Tampa.

McGinn has amassed 134 points over the course of his AHL career.

Congratulations, Tye!
