The Lightning
-The Tampa Bay Lightning made their next round of cuts on Sunday, re-assigning nine players and placing four more on waivers.
We have reduced our #BoltsCamp roster by nine players.
Our roster now stands at 33. https://t.co/TCTcjmiVU1

Of note is that one of those reassigned was forward Mitchell Stephens, a player that many felt looked really good during the Lightning’s pre-season. In addition to the reassignments, the Lightning also put a group of veterans on waivers including defenseman Cameron Gaunce and goalie Scott Wedgewood. Gaunce is considered a strong candidate for the captaincy in Syracuse.
The following players have been placed on waivers Sun, Sept 22 (Cont’d)

Morgan Klimchuk
Andreas EnglundColumbus #BlueJackets
Dillon Simpson

Left in the competition for the remaining roster spots in Tampa is Alex Volkov, Gemel Smith, Danick Martel, Carter Verhaeghe, and Luke Witkowski.
Assuming Schenn and Rutta are 7th and 8th D and Brayden Point signs by opening night, appears #Bolts have 2 roster spots available and 5 players competing for them: Witkowski, Smith, Verhaeghe, Martel and Volkov. https://t.co/vmpNwoFRaI

As always, complicating this is the waiver situation. Volkov will not need to clear waivers while the rest will. Verhaeghe in particular might have high-level claimability:
On Verhaeghe: “The two goals aside that he scored, he took pucks to the net, he retrieved pucks… as the game went on, his game got faster.”#TBLvsNSH | Jon Cooper: pic.twitter.com/Nj506CQvPJ

“I’ve been feeling pretty good out there. I feel like the legs are starting to get going, starting to pick up. I’m getting more comfortable with the puck.”#TBLvsNSH | Carter Verhaeghe: pic.twitter.com/lUfxNxApEU

-Matt Duchene got as much of a kick out of playing with Callan Foote and Nolan Foote as we all did while watching it happen:
