It was a mystery whether or not the National Hockey League would let its players compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Both the NHL and International Ice Hockey Federation have had multiple meetings in attempt to make a deal. It indeed looks like they have and that the NHL will participate in the upcoming Olympics.
A story was published early this afternoon from The Score doing almost everything but confirming the NHL and IIHF have made an agreement. According to broadcaster Paul Ramanuk, an announcement should come soon confirming a deal has in fact been made.
The NHL and IIHF should be finalizing a deal soon, most reports are claiming within the week.
The 2014 Winter Olympics begin on February 7th 2014 and run through February 23.
